More than a number, ANDI reflects real life
We collect and analyse the views of the Australian people. We use the data to create a holistic measure of national progress and wellbeing that reflects the values and priorities of Australians. ANDI helps understand our collective vision for the future.
ANDI is two things: an idea and a tool.

The idea: our wellbeing encompasses a wide variety of aspects of life, far beyond conventional economic measures like Gross Domestic Product (GDP). ANDI is a conceptual framework drawing on a broad spectrum of domains of life and the sustainable wellbeing of our communities.

The tool: will measure what matters to Australians. It will track wellbeing outcomes from year to year in an effort to offer clear, valid, and regular information on the quality of life of all Australians.

The main goals of ANDI are to:
Empower Australians to compare their wellbeing both with others within Australia and those around the world.

Understand and promote awareness of why society is moving in the direction it is moving.

Give Australians tools to promote sustainable wellbeing with policy shapers and decision makers.

Promote a shared vision of what really constitutes sustainable national wellbeing and the elements that contribute to or detract from it.
Measure national progress toward, or movement away from, achieving that vision.

Stimulate discussion about the types of policies, programs, and activities that would progress us closer and faster toward achieving the best possible quality of life for all, now and into the future.

Inform policy by helping policy shapers and decision makers to understand the consequences of their actions for Australian sustainable wellbeing.
